Introduction
This privacy policy explains what information we collect, why we process it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. By using our website you accept the practices described here.
Comments
When you leave a comment on our site, the data entered in the comment form, together with your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string, is collected to help detect unwanted comments (spam).
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) may be publicly visible next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site, avoid uploading images containing EXIF GPS location data. Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from images.
Cookies and consent
We use cookies to improve the user experience and, where applicable, for analytics or advertising purposes.
- On your first visit, a cookie banner will appear asking you to accept or refuse non-essential cookies. By accepting, you give consent to the placement of those cookies.
- If you leave a comment, you will be offered the option to save your name, email address and website in cookies for your convenience when posting another comment later. These cookies last for one year.
- On the login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Typical durations: login cookie = 2 days; “remember me” login cookie = 2 weeks; screen option cookie = 1 year.
- When you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data; it simply shows the post ID of the post you just edited. It expires after one day.
You can manage or refuse cookies via your browser settings or via the cookie banner on the site. Refusing non-essential cookies may affect some features.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor had visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Use and disclosure of your personal data
- If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security reasons.
- We may share certain data with technical service providers (hosting, backups, anti-spam tools) to operate the site. These providers act on our instructions and are contractually required to ensure confidentiality and security.
Legal bases for processing
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases to process personal data:
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and processing based on your explicit consent.
- Performance of a contract / provision of a service: for example, managing your account if you register.
- Legitimate interests: for spam prevention and site security (e.g., automated detection of unwanted comments).
- Legal obligation: when the law requires us to retain or disclose certain information.
Data retention periods
- Comments and related metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
- Profile data for user accounts (if any) is retained as long as the account exists, unless the user requests deletion.
- Cookies: retention periods vary (see the Cookies section).
- Data required for legal, fiscal or security purposes may be retained for statutory periods.
Transfers outside the European Union
Some third-party services (for example Gravatar or certain hosting/analytics providers) may transfer or store data outside the European Union. Where transfers outside the EU occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (standard contractual clauses or services that provide adequate protection). Nonetheless, depending on the provider, some processing may occur in the United States or other countries — please consult the privacy policies of these providers for details.
Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data (secure TLS/HTTPS connections, restricted access to data, regular backups, up-to-date site components). However, no system is completely secure; we encourage users to follow best practices (strong passwords, keeping their own devices updated).
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- Right of access: obtain confirmation and a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure (right to be forgotten): request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
- Right to restriction of processing.
- Right to object: object to certain processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format for transfer.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time when processing is based on consent.
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in France: CNIL).
To exercise your rights, contact us at: contact@sylor.fr. We may request reasonable proof of identity before fulfilling requests.
Comment checks
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. This service may process certain comment data (content, metadata, IP, user agent) to assess spam risk.

This privacy policy may be updated. For any questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at contact@sylor.fr. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
